Redskins promote rookie T Tom Compton to 53-man roster
The Redskins have promoted rookie tackle Tom Compton to their 53-man roster after the South Dakota product spent the first 13 weeks of the season on the practice squad.
Selected in the sixth round of this April’s draft, Compton worked primarily at left tackle during the preseason and started the final preseason game. During regular season practices, he has taken snaps at left and right tackle.
When the Redskins placed cornerback Cedric Griffin on the Reserve/Suspension list, it created a spot on the 53-man roster, and the team used it to promote the 6-foot-5, 308-pound Compton.
